Employment
Building Homes, Creating Jobs, Changing Lives
At the Dominican Starfish Foundation, we believe that true change happens when communities are empowered from within. That’s why, unlike many organizations that bring in outside workers from the U.S. or Canada, we employ local workers to build homes and complete our projects.

When you donate to help a family build a home, your generosity doesn’t just provide a safe and stable living space—it also creates jobs for local workers, allowing them to support their own families and build a brighter future.

Empowering Local Workers Through Employment & Training

Hiring Local Talent
We provide steady employment for 50-60 skilled construction workers, ensuring that the money donated to our housing projects stays in the community, strengthening the local economy.

On-the-Job Training
Many of the individuals we employ gain valuable skills in construction, making them more employable for future opportunities. This hands-on vocational training equips them for long-term success in an industry that provides a path out of poverty.

Giving Back, Not Taking Away
Unlike other organizations that rely on international volunteer labor, we invest in local expertise—ensuring that every project benefits both the families receiving assistance and the workers building their communities.

Your Support Builds More Than a Home
When you sponsor a house, you’re not just giving a family shelter—you’re providing jobs, skills, and economic growth for an entire community.
