Heading back to the Dominican Republic for another bi-yearly humanitarian trip. Merlin and Marina helped pack 10 humanitarian bags for our trip, including three bins for Kate’s school, which she requested for storage, and several donated sheets from Tekarra and Keshia at Sweet Sheets. We had a wonderful surprise when Meagan Layton, Sheila’s daughter-in-law, reached out about a fundraiser for a home. She wanted to raise funds to help a man in Javillar, a former worker for our foundation, whose home was falling apart. Meagan quickly agreed to sponsor the home, and I created a fundraising site for her.

This is the home for a man in Javillar who used to work for our foundation.  He has been sick for several years and his home and his life have fallen apart.  It’s very sad.

Merlin picked us up at 5:30 p.m. to head to the airport. On our way, we received a message from Hans at Voluntour, asking about a single mother building a house in El Javillar. They were considering taking on her project as their next one. It was incredible to see two more homes sponsored before we even left! We arrived at the airport at 8:45 p.m. and had a smooth check-in with no extra luggage fees, even though we had 10 bags. Our flight to Toronto left on time.
